Head of Pensions and Treasury – Tower Hamlets Temp Vacancy Umbrella Day Rate: £734.99Full-Time 35 hours Job Purpose: To be responsible for the council’s treasury and Pensions Fund and overseeing Pensions Administration in line with the regulatory framework for the Local Government Pension Scheme LGPS, financial best practice and control procedures, ensuring that the Authority fulfils all its corporate and statutory requirements. To act as the key Pension Administration expert, have knowledge of all aspects of the Local Government Pension Scheme LGPS. To co-ordinate, maintain and have responsibility for the administration of the Authority’s Pension Scheme, providing a full range of pension benefits to the Authority’s employees and their dependants, as well as those employees of other organisationswho participate in the Council’s Pension Scheme. To be responsible for the development and implementation of strategies and policies that will enable the Pension service to be effective in its service provision. Accountabilities: To manage the budgets under its control pension fund, borrowing and lending to deliver the best returns for the council to ensure a high level of funding of the Pension fund, minimising borrowing costs and maximising investment income. To provide technical advice to the Director of Finance, Procurement and Audit and Members on the optimum management of the Pension Fund. Ensure that compliance is maintained with HMRC requirements, the Pensions Acts and contracting out legislation. Ensures that by achieving compliance the Council is not reported to one of the regulatory bodies. To manage fund and pensions staff and trainees as allocated, in accordance with council policies and procedures, legislative and regulatory requirements including ensuring effective training and development of all members of the team.
