Supply Chain Planner/Buyer

Leonhardt Manufacturing is looking to fill a Supply Chain Planner & Buyer position. The Supply Chain Planner & Buyer will develop and manage the production plan used to optimize inventory levels and support on-time delivery for our customers. The Planner/Buyer has the primary responsibility of entering sales orders and ensuring material availability to support production. This position requires material purchasing experience with a strong background in analyzing issues, planning, problem solving and negotiating with suppliers. Other responsibilities include, scheduling material deliveries and managing costs. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Monthly coordination and execution of the production planning (MRP) process utilizing ERP and planning software to define raw material and packaging requirements Uses the organization's demand plan to identify when products should be manufactured based on defined product family inventory requirements; maintains the required parameters for product family inventory requirements (A, B, C groupings) Develops production plans including the preparation of all required inputs for weekly and monthly production meetings Develops and implements indirect purchasing systems, policies and procedures Coordinates with all operations, production and supply base to ensure delivery schedules are met Manages suppliers and ensures standard operating procedures and key performance indicators are being delivered in a consistent manner Provides training to stakeholders and originators on purchasing processes Develops and maintains audit system to evaluate vendor quotations that utilize appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery and service Develops business relationships with suppliers, potential suppliers and customers Designs, implements, manages and monitors procurement reporting systems to meet company requirements Develops strategies to minimize costs and/or lead times Recruits and maintains suppliers that provide high quality products and services at a better price while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct Prepares and issues purchase orders and approves change notices Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy Prepares and reviews contracts, bids, proposals and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price and acceptability of items to specifications Oversees all activities related to procurement of a commodity, from intent to purchase through delivery of commodity Negotiates or supervises the negotiation of products, raw materials, supplies and services from suppliers and subcontractors Gathers and reports purchasing-related metrics Performs miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Statistics or other technical-oriented field with 5 to 7 years' experience in the field or related area (fabrication manufacturing experience preferred) APICS - Supply Chain Management Certificate (preferred) Lean Manufacturing (Preferred) Salary: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
