We require the incumbent to report to our local HQ. The candidate will sit at Sierra Instruments (Monterey, CA). This individual will report to the Director of Operations of TASi Gas Flow. OUR BUSINESS: Sierra Instruments has been delivering market-leading gas flow measurement products for more than 45 years. As a part of TASi Gas Flow, Sierra Instruments designs and manufactures high-performance thermal mass flow controllers for nearly every gas, liquid, or steam application. We provide critical instrumentation for the gas flow control systems for all industries where accurate gas flow measurement is mission critical. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Manufacturing Engineer position is responsible for the efficient build of a high-quality product which includes (but is not limited to): configuration control, creation of manufacturing procedures and guides, tooling (manufacturing aides), work sequencing and designing efficient build methods. Successful candidate must have a strong mechanical background and understanding of modern manufacturing and test methods. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: • Supports work specific to detail parts manufacturing and assembly operations within a manufacturing environment. • Develops documentation and procedures to ensure compliance specific to customer, and regulatory production requirements and specifications. • Develops solutions for production problems relating to materials, manufacturing processes and/or the right tooling. • Interprets engineering drawings to determine requirements meet objectives. Acts as liaison between Design Engineering, Tooling department, Quality, and Production. • Provides technical support and assistance with the development and improvement of methods, quality product design, cost, and technical issues of a complex manner as required. • Plans and documents various installation processes, tooling, equipment and quality control methods to optimize the manufacturing operation. • Ensures completed tasks have been performed and inspected in accordance with HACI standards. • Identifies and corrects assigned production and manufacturing issues. • Prepares and updates planning. Assist with BOM identification and control. Prepares tool orders and verifies compliance. • Work with the building maintenance team to develop and build budgets for maintenance of critical tooling and equipment. QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelors' degree (Technical) with 2-5 years of working experience. • Experience with the pillars of quality in manufacturing: Six Sigma, Kaizen, Hoshin Kanri, Lean, and 5S. • Experience with managing tasks and projects that reduce cost, improve quality, and/or improve process. • Must be able to read and interpret drawings, and specification requirements. • Must be able to read and understand GD&T and Cpk specifications. • Must have excellent problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills, backed by a critical analytical thought process. • Some experience utilizing tools such as Epicor, SolidWorks, Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Visio). • The ideal candidate should be experienced with modern EWI systems such as Dozuki (preferred), VKS, Andonix, or Swipeguide. • Must be a self-starter that can multitask and work independently in a culturally diverse environment. • Strong organizational skills. • Working knowledge of electromechanical assembly, testing of precision instruments, and related processes including (but not limited to): Machining, metal forming, application and measurement of surface finishes, welding, soldering, brazing, Basic Machining Operations and other operations related to the production of TGF product.
