Student Wellness Intern Student Employment Tsaile Campus Duty Schedule: 8:00AM-8:00PM (Flexible), Sunday through Saturday Summary/Objective of Position: The Student Wellness Intern will participate in a fourteen (14) week long internship of program operations and research that promotes student wellness at Dine College Student Wellness Center to encourage lifelong healthy lifestyles. The Student Intern will assist the student wellness department in developing, implementing and evaluating a comprehensive program that delivers quality and diverse extra-curricular activities and functions on campus, and enhance the growth and development of all students by providing social, cultural, recreational, and educational opportunities for all students to engage with the campus and the college community. The Student Intern will coordinate with external agencies, entertainers, performers and regularly interacts with departmental staff, faculty, and student leaders. All participants to participate in all scheduled activities, not limited to: To collaborate with fellow interns to plan, develop and initiate wellness-based research and initiatives that promote and create a culture of wellness through diversity, inclusion and health equity at Dine College. To assist Student Wellness Center staff with daily operations, activity coordination, and health promotion initiatives of the Student Wellness To provide peer support and wellness services that promote wellness of virtual, residential and commuter students that are currently attending Dine College . Will maintain positive and professional working relationships with external agencies and within the campus Coordinates, prepares, and disseminates publications related to student activities, and student services, to students, staff and the Assists in preparing and editing fliers, posters, literature and other materials prepared for on campus Student Intern will obtain information from commuters and residents thru surveys and data collection on wellness related topics and activities provided by the institution. Student Intern will engage in student activities and learn to implement their own ideas on wellness to demonstrate they possess the knowledge and education to pursue their academic goals. Ensure event details are updated on campus Student Wellness Answers phones and a variety of customer inquiries in a professional and courteous Schedules appointments for meetings and events, files, sorts mail, performs data entry, manages event equipment inventory, and run errands on Organize the booking of facilities, training sessions, workshops with other departments, community organizations, and student Maintains confidentiality of information exposed in the course of business regarding students, supervisors or other Contributes to a safe educational and working environment by participating in all drills and training and being prepared to take action should a health or safety emergency occur. QUALIFICATIONS Education & Experience Minimum: Minimum of a 5 term and cumulative 2.5 GPA. A minimum of three months of work or volunteer experience in event planning, leadership, and/or administrative support. Must have access to a computer/laptop with a reliable Internet Be enrolled part- or full-time student at Dine' College in Spring 2023 Preferred: College students majoring in Public Health , Social Work, Counseling and/or closely related field . Knowledge: Have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Canva, Blackboard and other standard office Must be able to do at least some work on-line and by Zoom, Microsoft Teams or other virtual work Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills and attention to details are required . Demonstrate agility to shift directions in response to changing work situations . Knowledge of online and in-person campus resources. Skills: Vocal and social skills to present wellness topics, conduct group activities and/or provide Wellness Center tours to Ability to work independently and with groups, dependable and responsible, detail-oriented, a sense of personal responsibility, and organizational Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects and moderate experience with Audio and Visual Set Knowledge and experience using integrated software Knowledge of Navajo Culture & Language Preferred Coordinate and organized meeting and special Oral fluency in the Navajo language is desired, but not required. Abilities: Ability to commit 20 hours a week to work responsibilities and maintain high academic standards Ability to collaborate and work with college employees and students through interactive social environments from diverse Ability to follow instructions, work independently and demonstrate proficiency. Ability to adhere to established College's Student Code of Conduct and Residence Life Handbook if Ability to monitor and supervise facilities and staff . Ability to develop a team-oriented Ability to perform moderately complex clerical duties, assisting with the collection of data, compiling statistics, maintaining long-range calendars of multiple venues . Physical Requirements, Work Environment & Travel: This position requires average fitness ability and good physical Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy materials weighing up to approximately more than 25 pounds if Work may require sitting, near vision use for reading and computer use, lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing, pushing, pulling, reaching, and other physical exertion. Other Requirement(s): Knowledge of Navajo Culture & Language Preferred Coordinate and organized meeting and special Oral fluency in the Navajo language is desired, but not required.
