POSITION SUMMARY The Controller will lead the financial reporting operations with a team of accountants that prepare managed-facility financial statements for multiple clients in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles for private companies. Review the monthly and annual financial statements to ensure financial reporting is timely and accurate. This may include a monthly summary of financial operations presented to owners and boards of directors as needed. Coordinate preparation of income tax work papers submitted to outside accounting firms. Additionally, they will be responsible for budgeting, tax, audit and cash management support.The Controller will also work with outside auditors in the preparation of annual financial statements and regulatory reporting requirements, i.e., HUD, USDA, Medicare and Medicaid. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Review of monthly financial statements, including at a minimum, income statements, balance sheets, statements of cash flows and related quantitative analyses for compliance with external reporting requirements, including varying ownership requirements. Monitoring accounting policies and practices to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and appropriate documentation standards. Oversight of monthly management reporting, including review of financial statements and underlying supporting documents and communication with facility management. Preparation or review of Board and ownership financial reports addressing financial results of operations. Coordination of annual financial statement audits and income tax preparation. Planning, training and coordination for annual facility budgeting. Monitor and assess internal controls and make recommendations to CFO. Supervision of the accounting staff, and coordination of the work flow and meetings of these employees with other members of the leadership team. Assistance to the Chief Financial Officer. Maintains and supports a culture of compliance, ethics and integrity. Maintains confidentiality and rights of resident, family, employee, and facility information in compliance with HIPAA policies and other applicable regulations. Maintains safe work environment and exhibits safe work practices. Performs all other duties, as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's or advanced degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required Masters in Accounting or Masters in Business Administration, a plus Healthcare experience, particularly in the areas of Medicare, Medicaid and related reimbursement regulations, highly desirable Active CPA License a plus Extensive financial statement preparation experience required Extensive management experience required in both technical accounting and consulting environments required Current understanding of generally accepted accounting principles for private companies. Ability to meet multiple deadlines in a client-service environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong time management skills. Working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing applications. Strong analytical/problem-solving skills. Basic knowledge of for-profit and not-for-profit tax principles desirable. Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Ability to deal professionally with personnel, visitors, government agencies and the public.
