Summit County is recruiting a Payroll Specialist with the ability to work quickly and accurately with figures, reconcile accounts/statements, and communicate effectively to resolve problems under stressful conditions. Responsibilities include processing and timely delivery of payroll and payroll liabilities. Must understand the County’s payroll system (timekeeping and accounting software) to accurately pay employees in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations. Preference will be given to candidates with an ADP background. Must be able to exercise discretion, be detail oriented, and exercise independent judgement. May hire from one of the following levels depending on submitted qualifications and experience.Minimum & Special QualificationsPayroll Specialist I: Associate degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Business, or a closely related field, one year of accounts payable or prior payroll experience, or a combination of education and experience. Salary Range: $20.26 - $28.37/hr.Payroll Specialist II: Associate degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Business, or a closely related field, three years’ accounts payable or prior payroll experience, or a combination of education and experience. Salary Range: $21.46 - $30.07/hr.Payroll Specialist III: Associate degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Business, or a closely related field, five years’ accounts payable or prior payroll experience, or a combination of education and experience. Salary Range: $22.75 - $31.86/hr.We offer a generous benefit package with options for a premium free health plan, dental plan, and life insurance.
