Position Description Title: R&D Product Development Scientist Department: R&D Immediate Supervisor: R&D Manager Position Purpose Be an independent worker able to plan, conduct and supervise complex or unique projects in extrusion coated woven polyolefins. Able to translate advances in polyolefin resins and additive technology into product improvements and new market opportunities. Principle Accountabilities Focus: Expert knowledge of products, processes, and end users. Able to manage multiple projects at a time. Works with the sales force, manufacturing, and customers to determine the needs of the marketplace and to develop high value new products. Works closely with suppliers to ensure any relevant innovations in resin, etc. are exploited in the design of our fabrics. Supports all aspects of the product development cycle from idea through commercialization, including trials in the plant, field trials with customers, market development and technical support for the product launch. Ensures that all legal and governmental codes and requirements are identified and met for those projects going forward. Plans and formulates aspects of research and development proposals such as objectives or purpose of project, applications that can be utilized from findings, costs of project, equipment, and human resource requirements.
