Warrior Student Initiative Project Manager Shiprock Learning Center Shiprock Campus Duty Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, some late hours and weekends may be required. Summary/Objective of Position: The Student Parent Program Manager, supervised by the Associate Director of Student Affairs, carries out the goals and objectives of the Aspen Institute grants which focuses on supporting college students who are parents currently enrolled at Shiprock and Tuba City Campuses. Manager will work on program development and implementation, external communication, data collection, outcome assessment, reports, and accountability for meeting grant and program objectives. Works collaboratively college resources, external support programs and center directors to ensure and support organizational and student success. Position funded by Ascend at the Aspen Institute. LEADERSHIPProvides leadership, direction, and professional guidance to identified students who are parents (or student parents).Collaborates and coordinates with the Associate Director of Student Affairs on program planning, event planning, collaboration, and strategic outcomes. Coordinate the processes and procedures for continuity and consistency in the supervised services, program planning, workshop development and collaboration between Student Affairs and Academic Affairs. Explores new and innovative models for effective program delivery, student parent learning outcomes, and re-imagined event planning to meet the needs of our students who are parents. Develops programming that helps with student in balancing family life and transitioning into college with the goals of student retention. Coordinates and implements services that build cohesiveness and consistency across campuses. Serves on inter-departmental committee meetings relevant to student services and student access. STUDENT SUPPORT Collaborates with Student Affairs to ensure quality and adequate support and provide accurate and timely guidance for student parents to complete registration, add/drops, and maintain all records of student visits and contacts. Establishes Positive Relationship Building - offer and encourage students to participate in curricular and co-curricular learning activities that promote positive relationship building utilizing web postings, video conferencing, live chatting, and so forth. Implements and promotes student support services that are personalized and allow student parents to track, monitor, and continuously revisit a meaningful academic pathway. Provides recommendations for the development or revision of policies, processes, and programs that aid in the retention and persistence of student parents. COLLEGE AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS Builds meaningful internal and external partnerships to connect the college to programs and services that will serve students who are parents. Interacts with various programs and departments on campus, including but not limited to Academic Advising, Peer Mentorship and Internship Programs, Title III Programs, and Academic Faculty for processing student services, event planning, collaboration opportunities, and promoting student advocacy and support. Prepares, collects, and disseminates academic-related information to students to prepare and educate students for college readiness, college success, life-skill development, and preparation for their upcoming college career and workforce readiness. Prepares, collects, updates, and disseminates resource guides with external programs/agencies that offer services to student parents. Supports the College's goal of Digital Transformation, leading the conversation to develop processes that remove barriers and improve effectiveness and efficiency. DATA REQUESTS AND REPORTS Provides ongoing statistics for standard reports of the college-funded services. Leads the monitoring, collection, and reporting of student success rates connected with grant goals and timelines. Implements, maintains, and manages electronic records of student surveys, data reports, and other college activities. Monitors the progression and contribution to Student Learning Outcomes, Institutional Strategic Goals, Student Affairs Divisional Goals and recommends program initiatives to align when necessary. QUALIFICATIONS Education & Experience Minimum: Bachelor's degree in education, social/behavioral science, or business or in related field, plus two years of experience working with students in a Higher Education Setting. Preferred: Masters' degree in education, counseling, business, or higher education, or in related field, plus four years of experience coordinating an undergraduate program. Knowledge: - Strong organizational and time management skills.- Ability to work independently.- Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, students, and the public.- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.- Independent decision making and problem-solving abilities.- Professional appearance and demeanor.- Ability to establish, develop, and employ strategies to meet goals.- Promote Student Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity. Skills: - Must have proficient skills with Microsoft Office: i.e. Excel, Pivot Tables, etc, and student information systems.- Must have strong project management and organizational abilities and skills.- Strong written and verbal communication skills; written, oral, active listening and interpersonal skills.- Work effectively in team situations.- Excellent customer service skills using tact and diplomacy; professional and pleasant office manner.- Excellent listening skills; patient and calm.- Demonstrates ability to monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and success. Abilities: - Ability to analyze and interpret data.- Ability to prioritize information in a timely manner.- Ability to communicate clearly by phone and in person.- Detail oriented and able to organize and manage multiple projects while maintaining a high level of accuracy.- Ability to handle multiple tasks and issues.- Ability to understand and explain to others technical information in a manner that is easily understood.- Ability to establish and communicate standards, expectations, and understand organizational needs. Physical Requirements, Work Environment & Travel: - Work is typically done in an office work environment. At times required to lift typical office equipment and supplies. Travel required to other campuses and sites. Travel required by vehicle and at times by air to conferences and training out of state.- Able to work in a high pressure office setting during peak business times, such as during registration. Other Requirement(s): Valid state-issued driver's license.
