Role: Groundskeeper Location: Thomaston-Upson Grounds Facility Reports to: Director of Operations FLSA Status: Exempt Contract Days: 230 days Retirement: PSERS Key Duties and Responsibilities Operate tractors, Lawnmowers, trimmers, and other related equipment and tools pertinent to the position in an effective and safe manner. Perform general maintenance and repair for all assigned tools and equipment. Perform grounds maintenance as directed by the supervisor and Director of Operations keeping grass, shrubs, trees, groundcover, etc... neatly trimmed, maintained free of litter and debris. Maintain walkways, parking areas, steps, and other outside areas of system property as directed Report any property damage or safety issues to supervisor and Director of Operations Exhibit a cooperative attitude and demeanor at all times in dealing with school personnel, students, fellow employees and the public Ensure adherence to good safety procedures. Maintain any records required for the position in an effective and accurate manner Demonstrate initiative and assume responsibility for all aspects of the job responsibilities, performing routine tasks with little or no direct supervision. Participate in training programs to increas skills and proficiency relate to the job Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies and administrative directives. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Hold or be eligible for required certification. Ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community. High integrity, excellent character, and good professional reputation. Ability to be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work. Ability to perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting. Ability to perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks. Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students particularly during emergency situations.
