General Description Under the direction of the Activity Director, the Activity Aide assists in carrying out aplanned activity program for residents. This position requires knowledge of age specificdevelopmental factors specific to adult and geriatric residents. The Activity Aide willassist in activities for geriatric residents with therapeutic, neurological, and medicalneeds. Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and /orholidays. Essential Duties 1. Adjusts to changes in unit/shift assignments to meet resident and family needs asit relates to the activity program.2. Notifies the Activity Director of supplies needed for the operation of the activitiesprograms.3. Notifies the Activity Director of needed equipment repairs.4. Assists in the supervision of volunteers during activity programs and parties.5. Verifies that activity programs are completed timely per the Activity Schedule.6. Responsible to invite residents to activity programs as appropriate and asdetermined in the Care Plan.7. Maintains attendance records for resident activities on a daily basis.8. Assists Activity Director with the seasonal dcor of the Facility.9. Assists in transporting residents to and from activities.10. Maintains and delivers department timesheets to the Activity Director.11. Maintains an up-to-date list of residents' birth dates.12. Performs light housekeeping tasks, such as clean-up following parties andprograms.13. Maintains a clean office and desk.14. Interacts with residents, family members, co-workers, clinical and ancillary staffin a non-judgmental, supportive, and calm manner.15. Addresses family satisfaction issues timely and assists in resolving the matter in aprofessional manner.16. Promptly reports issues or problems to Activity Director.17. Participates as assigned in the orientation of new staff and demonstrates apositive, helpful, and enthusiastic attitude.18. Performs varied clerical and department maintenance functions. Experience: Certified Nurse Asistant with a minimum of three months' prior nursing assistant experience in long-term care. Qualifications Education/Training: Must possess a high school diploma and a valid driver's license. A.D.A ((Americans with Disabilities Act)(as amended)) REQUIREMENTS: Must beable to bend, stoop, push, pull, and walk and stand for most of the working day. Requiresmanual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as fax, telephone,etc. Requires normal range of hearing and vision. Must be free from communicablediseases that pose a "direct threat" to the health or safety of others and which cannot beeliminated by a reasonable accommodation. Must be able to lift a minimum of 30pounds, and be able to carry and transport supplies. Must be able to pass a post-offer, preemploymentphysical health examination as a condition of employment. Must be capableof performing the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonableaccommodation(s). Skill(s): Must possess proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills;proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills; decision-making skills, basiccomputer skills; and be able to operate various medical and/or office equipment. Mustdemonstrate knowledge of safety techniques. Must be able to communicate in English,both verbally and in writing, and possess sufficient communication skills to perform thetasks required.
