Worship Arts Director Job Description Our Worship We are all about worship with the focus being on the object of our worship not the style of our worship. The object of our worship is the great God in whom we have our salvation. We are a church of all generations, meaning we span from having many elderly to many young families. Thus, we often have a blend of song styles from contemporary songs to hymns and periodically including childrens songs. We currently have two Sunday services: 8:45am and 10:30am, each having the same worship set. We have two volunteer teams that typically alternate each weekend. Hours This is a part-time position with approximately 10-20 hours weekly depending on the applicants interest. For more information please contact the Search Team at XXXX@maranathafree.com Job Summary The Worship Arts Director will serve Maranatha to help oversee, develop, and coordinate our God-honoring corporate worship during weekly worship services. This involves integrating worship arts throughout the church inter-generationally. All of this is to be done in alignment with the vision and mission of our church. The Director will serve alongside the church pastors, staff, and ministry teams by drawing upon creative music, media, and drama to help facilitate biblical worship experiences and special outreach presentations. Some of the primary goals are to help introduce people to Christ, to help them grow in their discipleship, and to show the love of God to our community through the worship arts. Qualifications Personal Have an intimate, active, mature and growing relationship with Jesus Christ with a clear testimony to living a godly lifestyle. Maintain with delight personal spiritual development through Bible reading, prayer, and Christian community. Shall be in agreement with the doctrines and distinctives of the EFCA and with Maranatha. Have a positive, cooperative and teachable spirit, capable of taking and giving direction and criticism with a spirit of love and submission. Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to recruit others. Professional Demonstrates a passion and love for local church ministry and the worship arts, supported through formal training and/or practical experience in blended worship settings. Possesses a solid understanding of the Bible and theology. Proficient in guitar or piano and leading worship vocally. Exhibits competency in administrative and organizational responsibilities. Possesses problem solving and conflict resolution skills Able to lead, give direction, and cast vision to teams of volunteers through recruiting, motivating, equipping, and building teams. Has a spirit of humility, servant leadership and demonstrates godly wisdom. Description of Responsibilities Oversee the programming of all worship services and special services (e.g., Christmas & Easter, wedding and funeral tech support/special music as needed, etc.). Plan and evaluate the weekend services in partnership with the pastors and staff. Recruit, train, and schedule necessary team support to utilize the gifts and talents as seen fit for services (e.g., vocal, instrumental, technical, visual, etc.). Assemble, direct, and rehearse the selection and arrangement of appropriate music for worship services. Encourage high standards of spiritual commitment and musical excellence in volunteers, promoting their spiritual growth and gift development. Secure proper copyright clearances and all legal aspects of the worship ministry (training provided). Provide and communicate the vision, philosophy, and goals of Maranatha to the church body and worship volunteers for the excellent and Biblical use of the worship arts in church wide worship. Oversee and delegate the maintenance, repair and purchase of all: church musical instruments, lighting, sound, and video technology including contacting staff or technicians. Help oversee the Worship Ministry budget thorough planning, management and financial stewardship. Provide fellowship opportunities for praise team participants and families in an environment unrelated to music and worship. Build collaborative relationships and establish clear communication with elders, staff, and worship/tech team members to facilitate a healthy ministry and minimize conflicts and frustrations. General Expectations: Maintain needed office hours to perform duties. Attend weekly staff meetings, and participates in the life of the church. Work in a cooperative team relationship with the staff, ministry teams, elders, and members/attendees of the church. Be an active learner and familiar in writings and trends in worship arts and leadership. Attend a yearly conference in order to experience spiritual growth, development, and renewal for life and ministry. Give whole-hearted support to the EFCA Statement of Faith, Constitution and By-laws of Maranatha Evangelical Free Church. Accountability The Worship Arts Director will be under the direction and authority of the Senior Pastor and Elders. Applications: The Search Team will review applications each month.
