This does not include all of the work requirements of the job. Applicants are required to demonstrate in their applications and in the interview process that will include a skills backssment, that their qualifications for the position match those specified. The City of Belleville is looking for up to five (5) Probationary Fire Fighters to join Belleville Fire and Emergency Services. Working in an Incident Command System, the Firefighter’s role is to protect life and property through firefighting, emergency medical and other types of emergency incidents, often performed under conditions which require strenuous physical exertion. Firefighters are expected to maintain a high standard of professionalism, solve problems, work as part of a dynamic team and possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; as well as being leaders in public fire safety education. Duties and Responsibilities: The successful applicant(s) will work in the Urban Suppression Division. Upon completion of training, you will work under supervision to combat fires, perform rescue operations on land and water, administer designated medical procedures, conduct public education programs, inspect buildings for fire hazards, operate and maintain fire-fighting equipment and fire stations. Minimum Qualifications: NFPA 1001-Fire Fighter I and II certified, education and training program from an accredited institution; or Experience as a firefighter in a career, volunteer or industrial brigade setting.
