Term of App't: April 29 - June 24, 2024 (120 hours total) - by videoconference Start date: April 29, 2024 Reporting to: Dean of Academic & Vocational Programs Salary: $47.83 - $56.75/hr, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay. Description: NLC requires a sessional instructor to teach one section of English 099: University Preparation , a bridging course that covers fundamental academic writing concepts to prepare students for the rigors of post-secondary writing. Delivery of the course will be in person on the Dawson Creek campus and by videoconference for other campus locations. The course consists of 45 student contact hours, 51 preparation hours and 24 hours of travel time between the FSJ and DC campuses. Qualifications: Required: Bachelor of Education Degree, or a closely related discipline. Excellent English written and verbal communication skills. Commitment to student motivation and success; and the Ability to function effectively as a team member through collaborative approaches to course pedagogy. Teaching experience in the BC post-secondary system. Preferred: Masters' Degree in English, or a closely related discipline. One North American post-secondary degree, preferably the terminal degree. Experience teaching English writing skills to students with English as an additional language. The Provincial Instructor Diploma Program or an equivalent credential in adult education; and Experience instructing a culturally diverse group of students, including Indigenous and international students.
