C olumbus Technical College seeks an individual to serve as the Program Director/Instructor for the Practical Nursing program. The Program Director will serve as the first-line administrator within the program area, responsible for the overall leadership, planning, implementation, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of all aspects of the Practical Nursing program. This individual will ensure that the program complies with all the laws and regulations of the Georgia Board of Nursing. This individual will be responsible for the classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction and prepare lesson plans for the classroom, lab, and clinical setting. This position will also require evaluating student progress in attaining goals and objectives. Additional duties include attending staff development training, workshops, seminars, conferences, and advisory committee meetings and ensuring all safety and security requirements are met. This is a full-time/exempt position. Note: This position will require physical ability to move about or stand for long periods; no restrictions or limitations on bending, stooping, reaching, and safely lifting up to 50 lbs. The tentative start date for the position is August 1, 2024. Responsibilities: Instruct students in the Practical Nursing Program Follow state standards in developing program and course outlines, goals, and objectives Evaluate students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives Prepares and submits student’s progress and participation reports per the prescribed guidelines Establishes criteria and tests the students to measure each student’s progress Accurately records pertinent information in students’ records as required; prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports Ensures documentation meets all required organizational and accreditation policies and state guidelines; analyzes collected data for improvement of student learning outcomes; compiles and submits reports and grade reports on time to supervisor Ensures consistency in syllabi, lesson plans, tests, and other appropriate materials; maintains knowledge of computer technology and its application to the field of study Completes training in the current online learning management system and other computer-related administrative requirements within the prescribed timeline Works when scheduled; begins and ends work as expected; calls in according to the policy when arriving late for work or when absent; observes provisions of Fair Labor Standards Act; uses work time appropriately; adheres to college dress code; exhibits and models positive work ethics Teaching of work ethics traits as directed by the Technical College System of Georgia Works within the system in a resourceful manner to accomplish reasonable work goals Shows flexibility in response to process change and adapts to and accommodates new methods and procedures Accepts direction and feedback from supervisor and follows through appropriately Request and maintain supplies and equipment Order books for each course each term Develop teaching methods and maintain management procedures and documentation Meet with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students Scheduling of advisory committee meetings Ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training areas Respond promptly to administrative requests Provide orientation of other faculty members within the program Assist with classroom, lab, and clinical training within the Practical Nursing program Assist with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts on and off campus Additional duties of program director Maintain program state requirements as appropriate Strong time management and organization skills Effective written and oral communication Keen observation, supervision, and evaluation skills General Computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel, Blackboard) Involvement in professional activities/organizations Other job-related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university. Current Georgia or eNLC (enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact) RN License and in good standing. Minimum of three years of practice as a licensed registered nurse within the preceding seven years One year of teaching experience in a nursing education program (included in the required three years of nursing practice) Strong time management and organization skills Effective written and oral communication Keen observation, supervision, and evaluation skills General Computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel, Blackboard) Involvement in professional activities/organizations Preferred Qualifications: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university. Teaching experience in post-secondary education Salary/Benefits: The salary range is $82,000 to $85,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience. Benefits include state holidays, annual leave, and sick leave, State of Georgia Retirement, Health and Flexible Benefits Program. Application Deadline: Applications accepted until filled.
