The ideal candidate will have a strong background in phlebotomy techniques, IV techniques, laboratory procedures, and instructional methodologies. This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to motivate and engage students, and a commitment to promoting a positive learning environment.Job Description/Essential Duties Develop curriculum and instructional materials for phlebotomy courses, ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulations. Deliver engaging and interactive classroom lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on training sessions on phlebotomy techniques, safety procedures, and specimen handling. Provide one-on-one guidance and support to students, including constructive feedback on performance and progress. Organize and oversee practical skills labs and simulation experiences to reinforce learning objectives. Evaluate student comprehension and proficiency through assessments, quizzes, practical exams, and other evaluation methods. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and lab activities. Stay current with advancements in phlebotomy practices, equipment, and technologies to ensure program content remains up-to-date. Collaborate with other faculty members and administrative staff to enhance the overall educational experience for students. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student success, professionalism, and ethical conduct.Rate of Pay: $730 per credit hourKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Should be able to work effectively with employees and all levels of leadership within the institution. Must be proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio) andHRISsystems. The successful candidate must be a self-starter who takes accountability for performance while requiring minimal supervision. Must be able to handle highly confidential material efficiently and effectively. Must possess strong time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills. Ability to build relationships with individuals and teams across the institution and campus. Ability to analyze information and recommend appropriate action. Knowledge of planning, research, and analysis techniques and procedures. Knowledge of department, operations, policies, and procedures. Ability to conduct research and perform quantitative quality assurance reviews. Ability to research, prepare, and present comprehensive written and oral reports. Ability to organize and conduct meetings and workshops. Knowledge of state and federal personnel laws, policies, and procedures. Must be able to report clear, concise and accurate ad-hoc reports to all levels of leadership. Comprehensive understanding of venipuncture and capillary puncture procedures, including proper equipment selection, vein selection, blood collection, and specimen handling. Proficiency in the anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system, including knowledge of blood composition, vascular anatomy, and potential complications related to venipuncture. Familiarity with safety regulations, and quality assurance measures related to specimen collection, processing, and transportation. Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and biohazard safety precautions to minimize the risk of contamination and transmission of infectious diseases. Understanding of regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and best practices governing phlebotomy procedures, including HIPAA regulations, CLIA guidelines, and OSHA standards. Proficiency in medical terminology related to phlebotomy procedures, laboratory tests, and healthcare documentation to accurately communicate with healthcare professionals and patients. Skill in developing instructional materials, lesson plans, and learning activities that promote active engagement, comprehension, and skill development among students. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and understandable manner to diverse audiences. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address student challenges, adapt teaching strategies, and troubleshoot issues related to phlebotomy techniques or procedures. Flexibility to adjust teaching methods, pace, and content delivery based on student needs, learning styles, and classroom dynamics. Effective organizational skills to manage classroom activities, laboratory sessions, student assessments, and administrative tasks efficiently. Ability to collaborate with colleagues, healthcare professionals, and industry partners to enhance instructional content, facilitate clinical experiences, and promote student success. Competence in utilizing instructional technologies, multimedia resources, and educational software to enhance teaching effectiveness, facilitate student learning, and track student progress.Physical DemandsThe following physical activities described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. IV and/or blood draw allowed in career scope of practice with active certification/licensure in that field. Minimum of three years experience in certification/licensure health career field.OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.Preferred QualificationsCertification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) from a recognized accrediting agency (e.g., ASCP, NHA, AMT). Prior experience in teaching, training, or instructional design is highly desirable. Five to ten years experience in the health career field. Strong knowledge of phlebotomy techniques, venipuncture procedures, specimen collection protocols, and laboratory safety practices.
