Essential Functions Rotate stock of food and beverage using FIFO guidelines in all storage areasAccurately inspect all food, beverage, supplies and equipmentCommunicate any substitutions, shortages, and product not meeting kitchen standards– in a timely mannerEnsure product is marked with correct date of service and correct department in which the item(s) will be usedTransport items to appropriate storage areas in a safe, orderly, and timely mannerMaintaining cleanliness and organization of all receiving and storage areas, including refrigerators, freezers, anddry storage areasAdhere to industry accepted safe food handling guidelinesEnsure items and goods received are safe, secure, and damage-freeWash all food product before storage to ensure all items are clean, pest-free, and ready for food preparationCollaborate with Chef and Purchasing team to ensure that all systems are followedCollaborate with team members in a respectful and communicative wayMaintain a safe work areaComplete general cleaning duties such as floor care, and minor equipment maintenance as neededStock shelves of refrigerators and freezer areasConduct physical inventory and reports to Café ChefProperly documents weight and waste logsInteract with guests in a friendly, welcoming mannerAvailability to work all scheduled shifts and attend required training and meetings. Knowledge and Skills 1. Experience with receiving and invoicingStrong knowledge of various food items (vegetables, grains, fruits, nuts, pastas, proteins, etc.)Interpersonal and organizational skillsSense of urgencyExcellent verbal skillsExcellent multi-tasking skillsProfessional appearanceAbility to move throughout the service area and kitchenKnowledge of safety and sanitation in the workplaceAbility to handle kitchen equipment and tools safely Work Environment Fast paced kitchenHigh sense of urgencyModerate to high noise levelExposure to soap and cleaning solutionsSlippery/uneven surfaces may be encounteredFrequently moving from cold freezer to normal kitchen environment Requirements Must have and maintain an active ANSI-certified California Food Handler’s CertificateNeatly groomed and dressed in clean uniforms and appropriate PPE Physical Demands Some heavy lifting (may lift 10-50 lbs.) and possible moving of equipment requiredRepetitive hand motion carrying food containers, using carts both loaded and unloadedStanding, walking, bending/twisting, and balance are all required to perform job task.
