Regulations drive the need for our services, but our unique capabilities allow us to add value to clients beyond environmental compliance.We are currently seekinga QA Manager for our laboratory located in San Diego, CA.The QA Manager manages the facility's Quality Management System including accreditation standard compliance, gaining and retaining accreditations, and document control. This position serves as Quality Manager and is the focal point for QA/QC. This position functions independently from technical operations, having responsibility for quality assurance oversight independent of production and financial responsibility. He/She/They will be well-trained to maintain safety conditions and will be passionate for doing work that maintains quality for the laboratory and develops operational efficiencies.As a key member of the laboratory team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including: * Maintain and expand the laboratory accreditations, as needed. * Ensure SOPs are well written, organized, and compliant to accreditation standards. * Ensure that personnel training (demonstration of capability) is completed, documented, and evaluated for improvements. * Identify, investigate, document, and resolve nonconformances; determine root causes and monitor corrective actions for effectiveness. * Promote a culture of responsiveness, correctness, accuracy, and completeness. * Work closely with laboratory leaders to plan, develop, and execute operational efficiencies and goals. * Work with laboratory staff to evaluate processes for continuous improvement. * Implement and improve the QA documents and program. * Develop and provide QA/QC program training for lab staff. * Lead ongoing improvement of the laboratory's QA/QC activities. * Plan, perform, and document internal audits and data assessments. * Host and lead external audits by accreditation bodies and clients; respond to deficiencies. * * Perform QA/QC review of the final data packets and reports. * * Perform routine review of data collection and log books in the laboratory. * * Develop, monitor, and report on key performance indicators to management. * * Proactively ensure compliance to Ethics & Data Integrity program. * * Ensure laboratory compliance with Enthalpy's Health and Safety Plan. * * Other duties as assigned.YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLSTo perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. * Bachelors' degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualifications. * Meet the minimum requirements of the facility's accrediting bodies * 3+ years of relevant experience in an environmental testing laboratory as Group Leader, Project/Laboratory/Quality Manager, or comparable experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to manage and lead a team. * 1+ years of experience in aquatic toxicology is preferred. * Working knowledge of environmental laboratory regulations, USEPA, NELAP, 40CFR, and other regulated environmentsThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
