Join our Staff Child Care team! The Infant/Toddler Teacher works with children in the agency staff child care program, providing safe and developmentally appropriate care to children of MWVCAA staff, ages 6 weeks to 3 years of age. This position promotes children's development in the areas of social-emotional, physical, cognitive and language development. This is a temporary position working 20-29 hours per week; expected duration is now - 8/31/2024. Candidates must submit application by 5/20/2024 in order to be considered for first round interviews. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). 1 year of experience as Teacher in a Certified Child Care Center or comparable group Care Program in the care of Infants/Toddlers. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Driver qualification status is not required for this position. CPR/First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire. Food Handlers Card or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire. Successful registration with the Central Background Registry of the Child Care Division. Must pass pre-employment physical. Candidate must pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screens. Participates in a minimum of 15 clock hours of training or education related to child care, of which at least 8 clock hours shall be in child development or early childhood education, as required by OCC Licensing. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Proficient in the use of computers and related information technologies. Ability to exercise patience with children. Ability to communicate effectively with young children, staff, and guardians. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required. Ensures compliance with adult to child ratios at all times. Ensures compliance with Office of Child Care Licensing Regulations. Ensures children are released only to parent/guardians or authorized adults. Records children's daily attendance and meal counts, in compliance with agency procedures and CACFP regulations. Works in partnership with parents of infants and toddlers to provide children with individualized care including diapering, bathing (when necessary), feeding and sleeping. Provides for the development of children's cognitive, physical, social-emotional and language skills through planned activities, utilizing curriculum and materials that are appropriate for each child's age and developmental level. Keeps records of daily activities including feeding, napping, and diapering to share with each child's parent. Creates classroom schedules and lesson plans that take into account each child's characteristics, strengths, and needs. Works with classroom team to set up classroom environment, and maintain the environment by regularly changing/rotating materials, supplies and props, utilizing developmentally appropriate practices for infants/toddlers. Creates a supportive climate and positive environment with opportunities for children to make connections with other children and staff. Uses positive redirection and strategies to provide children with a safe, secure and enjoyable experience at school. Participates in family style meals and leading conversation at the table to enhance the social and emotional growth of children. Conducts, in the classroom, monthly emergency drills to prepare children and staff for fires, earthquakes, and lockdown situations per licensing rules. Uses office time efficiently to make and receive parent phone calls, order supplies, preparing children's work to go home, preparing materials for activities, and other office work as needed. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES There are no supervisory duties in this position. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities. Required to frequently reach with hands and arms; regularly required to climb or balance; occasionally required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Regularly lift and/or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Physical ability to quickly evacuate children from the classroom in an emergency. Manual dexterity for handling office equipment. WORK ENVIRONMENT Mostly indoor classroom environment. Frequent outdoor supervision of children and monitoring pick up/drop off children. Occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals, creative substances such as paints. Occasional exposure to body fluids/biohazards (such as saliva, vomit and urine). ** Enrollment in the Central Background Registry is beneficial if you are even considering working with children in the State of Oregon, since it will be required before you can start a position.
