Fountain Valley School, a selective and diverse boarding school, educates 250 students in grades 9–12 on a beautiful 1,100-acre campus in Colorado Springs, CO. Founded in 1930, the School provides a rigorous, global curriculum in academics, arts, athletics and the outdoors. The Opportunity: The Building Specialist will work closely with the Building and Maintenance Supervisor to Ensure the proper care and maintenance of equipment and supplies, promoting workplace safety and environmental practices. General Duties: Handle basic issues and problems, referring more complex issues to the building and maintenance supervisor. Perform skilled painting, stucco, and plaster repair on various buildings. Operate equipment such as airless spray equipment, scaffolding, and motorized lifts. Boiler and heat pump operation, repairs, and preventative maintenance. Maintenance and minor repairs of building systems. Minor plumbing to include sink, toilet, and other plumbing repairs. Experience in painting, patching drywall, installing/finishing drywall, and cove base. Install/Move/Assemble office furniture to include desks, chairs, file cabinets, bookshelves, and other office equipment. Regular and reliable attendance. Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned. Ability to climb ladders, identify roof leaks, change light bulbs, replace ceiling tiles and other related ladder work Assists as needed with grounds maintenance, snow removal, custodial functions, record keeping and work order tracking. Provides a wide range support function to all departments throughout the property such as special events coordination and set-ups. Ability to frequently travel inside and outside of the Colorado Springs area. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications and skills Must have a valid Colorado Driver’s License. High school diploma or equivalent. 2 to 5 years of relevant experience. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to understand and follow directions. Working Conditions: Environment: indoor and outdoor work. Ability to work in extreme weather conditions. Physical demands: include extensive walking, lifting & carrying heavy weighted materials (up to 50 lbs), bending over to record field data, lifting and transporting by hand. Working relationships: students, parents, outside vendors and all other employees Salary : $22.00 - $27.00 Application Deadline: June 3, 2024
